The proximity readers are the devices that are used in access control systems. These devices read the data from the ID card and transmit them to the controller of ACS. There are also models designed to receive biometric data such as fingerprints or the iris of the eye. The devices may look differently depending on the type. The model for proximity-card is an electronic card with a built-in antenna. The device for reading the information from iris of the eye must have a camera. The most often the equipment is mounted near a doorway. The devices should have certain characteristics to be used outdoor. The proximity readers should be resistant to moisture, high or low air temperature, precipitation. The vandal proved devices are enclosed in metal cases, but durable polymer housings are also quite reliable. The distance of the identification can vary from 10 cm to 1 m. The user can easily understand that the identification was successful by a color change of the indicator, which is located on the body of the reader.
